Second of all, we see that most machines are fairly balanced aside from the huge difference in efficiency from the coal generators. We also generally see that EU machines are by far the cheapest to use. First of all, it is clear that all EIO machines are much more expensive, but also much more efficient than their counterparts.

There are two general things to consider before we dive into each category. I will first publish the raw numbers, followed by an analysis of each machine and what I think is the current best method.Īll data is from Direwolf20 1.12 version 2.0.0 The comparison looks at the time it takes to process a single item input, the RF used in this process, and the price of the entire machine. Some would already argue here that EIO machines are way too expensive to be considered "early game" but I nonetheless included them because they are so popular and a lot of people still go for EIO machines as soon as possible.

For this reason, I am also looking at the basic coal power generation methods available from these mods (plus RFTools), as most people starting out will be using coal power. This means no speed upgrades for EU machines, Basic Capacitors for EIO machines, and basic versions of TE machines. Nevertheless, I think it is nice to have a comparison in a single spreadsheet, and that it will be very useful for beginners who do not yet know the different methods or their efficiency.Īs this is an early game comparison, focus is on efficiency and price, and only the most basic types of machines are compared.

Some will note that most of this information is fairly easy to get yourself, and veterans may not find this post very useful. To that end, I went and compared the most popular methods from Ender IO (EIO), Extra Utilities (EU), Thermal Expansion (TE), and Actually Additions (AA).Įdit: Also added Industrial Craft 2 (IC2) machines. There's currently quite a few methods of ore doubling and smelting of items in FTB, and finding out which method to use when you start the game can be daunting.
